Vehicle shipping preparation guide

Vehicle shipping preparation guide

Before we discuss shipping your vehicle, it helps to know its make, model, condition and destination. This guide explains which details and documents to gather, so you can start the enquiry with a clear picture of what needs to travel.

Record the vehicle accurately

Give the make, model and year, with dimensions where available. Explain modifications, whether it runs and any damage affecting loading or handling. Photos should show the whole vehicle and details that need discussion. Label the approximate GBP value as an estimate.

Check the destination before making commitments

Our vehicle enquiry currently covers UK-origin shipping to the destinations shown in its dropdown. Acceptance and import requirements need assessment for the vehicle and route. Check the destination authority's current rules and ask which documents and responsibilities are included in the proposal.

Explain collection and timing

Give the UK collection location, preferred date and access. Say whether the vehicle will travel alongside household belongings and whether any date is fixed. Confirm the proposed loading, transport and handover arrangements rather than assuming a particular shipping method.

Confirm preparation instructions

Ask for the requirements for fuel, keys, loose belongings, accessories and vehicle condition before handover. These can depend on the proposed transport arrangement. Keep the agreed instructions and vehicle record together with the quotation.

Your questions answered

Is car shipping available as a separate request?

Yes. Use the vehicle form on its own and include household belongings only if they are part of the same proposed shipment.

Can a non-running vehicle be assessed?

Describe its condition and any loading needs in the enquiry. Acceptance and handling arrangements must be confirmed for the actual vehicle.
