Describe the goods before choosing the transport
Start with a clear description of the goods and the number of packages or pallets. Add the packed dimensions and gross weight where you know them. Explain whether anything is fragile, unusually heavy or needs particular handling. If the figures are estimates, say so and update them before arrangements are agreed.
Make collection and delivery clear
Give both countries and the collection and delivery locations. Include receiving hours, access restrictions and any loading or unloading equipment available. A shipment to a business address needs the right contact as well as the right location.
Pallets, crates and mixed packages
Tell us how the goods are packed. Group packages with the same size and weight together, and describe different packages separately. Say whether pallets or crates can be stacked. A crate is packaging, so describe what is inside it too.
Keep paperwork with the shipment plan
Include a packing list and any relevant supporting documents you already have. Ask which information is needed for the goods and actual route, who provides it and who will handle each stage. The enquiry does not confirm customs arrangements or acceptance of restricted goods.
Agree the work before dispatch
Review the proposed route, collection and delivery tasks, packing, timing, charges and responsibilities before agreeing the shipment. Tell us if the contents, measurements or dates change so the proposal can be checked.
Your questions answered
Is this the form for an employee moving home?
Use the household moving enquiry for personal belongings, including when an employer pays for the move. Use the commercial shipping enquiry for business goods or cargo.
Can I enquire before I know every measurement?
Yes. Give the package types and quantities you know, leave unknown measurements blank and mark estimates clearly. Final packed measurements and weights need confirmation before arrangements are agreed.
Can I request a pallet or crated shipment?
Yes. Choose the relevant packaging in the cargo form and describe the goods inside it. Availability and handling are assessed for the goods, collection and destination; the enquiry is not a booked transport service.
